Accelerated myocardial perfusion imaging using saturation-recovery spiral-in/out SSFP

چکیده
Background Myocardial first-pass perfusion imaging is a promising diagnostic tool for the assessment of ischemic heart disease. Spiral imaging, due to its high acquisition speed and robustness against motion artifacts, has been successfully combined with the saturation recovery (SR) GRE sequence using a traditional spiral-out trajectory. However, a SR SSFP sequence can provide higher SNR and use shorter saturation recovery time. In addition, as compared to a spiral-out trajectory, the spiral-in/out trajectory in an SSFP sequence can take advantage of the refocusing mechanism at TE=TR/2 to increase SNR and reduce off-resonance artifacts. Furthermore, spatial and temporal parallel imaging methods can be used to achieve up to 4x acceleration without degrading the image quality. In this study, we have implemented a spiral-in/out SR SSFP sequence and imaged rest myocardial perfusion.

First-pass myocardial perfusion imaging with whole ventricular coverage using L1-SPIRIT accelerated spiral trajectories
Background First-pass perfusion imaging using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) has become clinically applicable as an important tool for diagnosing coronary artery disease. We have recently demonstrated that high quality firstpass images can be acquired with an optimized spiral pulse sequence, but this sequence is only capable of imaging 3 short axis slices of the heart for a maximum heart rate...
متن کاملMyocardial first pass perfusion: steady-state free precession versus spoiled gradient echo and segmented echo planar imaging.
The imaging sequences used in first pass (FP) perfusion to date have important limitations in contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), temporal and spatial resolution, and myocardial coverage. As a result, controversy exists about optimal imaging strategies for FP myocardial perfusion. Since imaging performance varies from subject to subject, it is difficult to form conclusions without direct comparison ...
متن کاملPerformance of myocardial perfusion imaging using multi-focus fan beam collimator with resolution recovery reconstruction in a comparison with conventional SPECT
Objective: IQSPECT is an advanced high-speed SPECT modality for performing myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI), which uses a multi-focus fan beam collimator with resolution recovery reconstruction. The aim of this study was to compare IQSPECT compared with conventional SPECT interms of performance based on standard clinical protocols. In addition, we examined the concordance between convention...
متن کاملFully automated pixel-wise myocardial blood flow quantification with first-pass perfusion CMR
Methods Rest and adenosine stress perfusion imaging was performed on 17 normal volunteers. A saturation recovery SSFP dual-sequence technique was used to acquire three myocardial slices and an arterial input function (AIF) image series. A proton-density weighted image was acquired at the beginning of each series. Fully quantitative perfusion pixel maps were generated by an automated processing ...
متن کاملMyocardial perfusion imaging using CAIPIRINHA accelerated multi-slice saturation recovery TrueFISP
Introduction: Saturation recovery (SR) prepared TrueFISP sequences are widely in use for myocardial perfusion imaging because of a high intrinsic signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Since the image acquisition is limited by the heart cycle, a complete coverage of the heart with consecutively acquired slices is difficult. Parallel imaging techniques are required significantly reducing the acquisition t...
